Preparing for 2024 Hurricane Season
Experts are predicting another active hurricane season this year. In 2023 the Atlantic ocean had 20 named storm which was the 4th highest since 1950.
We all learned from Sandy that it is better to be prepared then not. So let’s get into how we can protect our home.
Stay alert, tune into forecasts and sign up for local alerts. You can find where to do this on your community’s recreation page. Here are just a few links to the communities around us to sign up for their notification system:

Second, make sure to contact your insurance representative to make sure you are properly insured. Your coverage should include wind, flood, and business interruptions.
Third, review your emergency plan: evacuation routes, contacts, and supplies. Know the quickest way to get out of town if an evacuation is put into affect. Have a contact list of people to contact in an emergency. This could include having the claims number readily available for your home or auto insurance policy. This is normally listed on the back of your ID card and the front page of your home insurance policy.
Lastly, it is always important to keep your property properly maintained. Remeber to repair, reinforce and tidy up.
